~*Hero in Rainbowland*~ ((A RbB/GW
crossover))
By Kayla
Disclaimer: I don't claim own Rainbow Brite or Gundam Wing, I just
love
writing fanfics. They belong to their owners, and I just love 'em
=)
Kayla grinned widely as she and Thundling hid among the clouds,
watching
the battle below. It was always better to watch these things
live,
although every time she wanted to interfere. Thundling never did
comply,
and since he was the one with the wings, he ultimately chose where
they
went.
"We'd better go, those Aries are getting too close for
comfort," Thund
said.
"Right, don't want a close encounter with the Gundams, do
we?" Kayla
replied.
They began to fly through a multi-dimensional rift, a rift that didn't
close quite fast enough for the Wing Gundam.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
A blue haired boy, looking to be about four or five, ran alongside
another seemingly four-year-old, who had green hair in two braids.
He
stopped and sniffed at the air.
"Patty, do you smell that?" he asked, sincerely worried.
"Yeah, it's smoke, an if there's smoke, there might be a
fire!" Patty
looked around. Anything burning the beautiful greenery in the
Green
Grange was definately not right. It was her portion of
Rainbowland, and
she would look after it.
"I'll go get Rainbow and the others, and some fire-sprites, in
case,"
Buddy, the blue-haired boy, stated. He ran at top speed, while
Patty
went off the trail to investigate. When she came to a clearing,
she
first noticed the scorchmarks, then the source. Looking up, she
gawked
at the Wing Zero.
"What *is* this? Another one of Murky's contraptions, I'll
bet." Patty
frowned. "But it's just not his style, it has color."
Then it opened
up. Heero Yuy came out, confused with his surroundings, and the
little
girl standing in front of him. "Oh, hello!" Patty
smiled. This wasn't
Murky or Lurky or any evil being she knew of. And in Rainbowland,
everyone is good until proven evil.
Heero didn't smile. "Where am I?"
"I'm Patty O'Green, and this is the Green Grange, my part of
Rainbowland. I'll bet that it was an accident, you crashing
here, so-"
"Rainbowland?" Heero was puzzled.
"I know, humans don't normally hear of this place. It's
where all the
color comes from," Patty explained. "The sprites mine
the star
sprinkles, and us Color Kids keep them organized, and Rainbow Brite
colors the planet Earth, and some other places, too, with them."
Just then, Buddy ran up, followed by a whole lot of red sprites with
fireman hats led by Red Butler. Rainbow, Indigo, and Lala all
followed
the procession closely, and Shy Violet was only a few footsteps
behind.
Questions were asked, and Heero Yuy discovered that he was in a land
of
cheerful midgets and tiny furballs with no way out until Wing was
repaired
Meanwhile:
Murky was working on improving his gloom bomb, when hey heard a loud
thud outside. "LURKY!!!"
"What is it, Murky?" The great brown fluffball ran in
and trampled over
the mad scientist. "Murky? MURKY!?!?!?!?"
He saw Murky, very angry
under a table. "Gee, Murky, what're ya doin' there?"
"Bumblebrain! Get out there and see what that noise
was!"
"Okay, Murky!" Lurky ran outside andlooked around.
He saw a giant
robot-like thing. Had he been knowledgable of the Gundam Wing
Universe,
he would have recognised the giant blackish thing as a Virgo Mobile
Doll.
Of course, he didn't, and he expected it to be able to talk.
"Hello!
What's your name?" No response came. "Oh, are you
okay?" Still no
response. "MURKY!!! It's a giant robot thingie, and I
think it's
dead!!!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.
Murky came running out and looked it over. "If I could fix
this, and
give it a new coat of paint, it could be exactly what I needed to take
over Rainbowland! HAHAHAHA!"
"Do we get to paint it perty colors, Murky? Like maybe some
red here,
and a little blue over there, and-"
"Of course not, Noodlehead! Let's get to work!"
Back in the land of the "Cheerful Midgits":
"C'mon, Mr. Heero, smile!" Canary giggled. The Yellow
Color Kid danced
around the Human Icicle as he scowled at the whole world. His
frown
deepened, and she reached up and grabbed one of his hands.
"Wanna dance?
Will you please?" she asked. It looked almost like
they were siblings,
the younger one annoying the older one. Heero relented, having
nothing
better to do. "Yay!"
Basically, Heero picked Canary up really high and twirled around in
circles until she stated that she was dizzy. When he began to
stop, she
asked for a little longer (please), so he did. This time, he
actually
smiled a little. A sprite got tangled up in his legs, though,
and both
girl and pilot went tumbling. Heero returned to scowling.
"Uhuh," Canary nodded, as if she actually understood the
jibberish
coming from the fluffy yellow sprite. "Alright. Heero,
Daffodil here
says that IQ, that's Shy Violet's Sprite, said that Shy was looking
for
you. If you'd go with this sprite, maybe you and Shy can figure
out how
to fix your spaceship thingie."
"Gundam," Heero corrected.
"Oh, 'Gundam'," Canary laughed. "Bye! Maybe
we could play together
again later!"
'Never,' Heero thought, barely refraining from rolling his eyes or
stating "omae o korosu."
"Mot pundle," smiled the sprite.
".?" Heero replied. This was almost worse than having
to spend time
with Duo Maxwell while he was on a sugar high! The sprite
shrugged and
waved its hand, signaling for Heero to follow. He didn't even
notice
when Canary tossed a yellow star sprinkle up and it hit a portion of
his
hair, dying it yellow.
Several minutes later:
"Hello, Mr. Yuy. I was looking over your. uh." Shy
tried to remember
what Heero had called Wing.
"Gundam," he said.
"Yes, gundam. I think the power source can be modified to
work on star
sprinkles. And we can touch up the paint job, since it got a
little bit
scratched up in the crash."
"Will the modifications effect the weapons systems?"
"I doubt it. In fact, they will probably just disappear
when you return
to your home, and then you will have to repair it as you normally
would."
"I see." He hated letting anyone else touch his gundam,
but if this was
the only way out of this Rainbowland, Heero would let it pass, just
this
once.
"This is all a hypothesis," Shy Violet added. "It
might remain, which
would mean to make it work on its old fuel source, you would have to
undo
everything I'll do. But the odds are in favor of my first
thoughts,
about 7 to 3, I suppose."
When Shy got talking anything scientific, she really got talking.
She
began asking Heero questions on the workings of the mobile suit, and
soon
they were in an involved conversation Heero never thought he would be
having with a four-year-old. After a while at this, A voilet
sprite
suddenly appeared beneath Heero's feet, and he once more went tumbling
to
the ground. It was like the creatures wanted him to trip!
"Lavendra says that Patty O'Green has been looking for you.
She wanted
some help fixing the damage in the Green Grange, and she thinks that
you
can help," Shy Violet translated. Heero decided to follow
the sprite and
make amends for what he had done to the girl's land. "Good
bye, and good
luck," Shy called after him as he and Lavendra left. She
threw a violet
star sprinkle at him, and a neat little patch formed right beside the
yellow one. He still hadn't noticed either color in his hair.
Back in The Pits:
Murky had been working diligantly on modifying the MD he had found to
run on gloom-cloud. And it was working. Now he just needed
to find a
way to control it.
"LURKY!!!"
"What is it, Murky?" Lurky came running towards the doll,
carrying a
Sailor Moon action figure. He accidentally scattered some of
Murky's
tools. "Oh, sorry, Murky." Murky scowled deeply.
"I want you to go to Rainbowland, sneak into the Color Castle,
and go
into Shy Violet's laboratory. She might have some kind of
controller."
"You mean, like the one for my little car?" Lurky asked,
imagining his
little 4-wheel-drive red and blue remote-control racecar. It was
fun to
play with, but he couldn't when Murky was around, because Murky would
yell at him.
"Yes, something like that," Murky nnodded impatiently.
"Get one and
bring it back here!"
"Okay, Murky!" Lurky ran off to get the gloom-mobile
to drive most of
the way to Rainbowland.
At the Scar in the Green Grange:
"Oh, hello, Heero," Patty smiled brightly as she stood up.
She had been
putting a bandaid on one knee, and chatting with her frog.
"Hello."
"Thanks a bunch for coming. Some people wouldn't ant to
help clean up
this mess. And I'm not blaming you, I know it was an accident
and all,"
Patty said.
"What should I do?" Heero asked. As always, he wasn't
one for idle
chatter.
"If you could follow those green sprites and help bring over the
bags of
star sprinkles, for a start, that would be good," Patty
instructed. She
pulled out a star sprinkle and pointed out the direction with one
hand.
When Heero turned to walk that way, she flicked her wrist and hit
Heero's
hair, making a new green patch by the yellow and violet ones, then
smirked silently.
Heero tripped over at least seven scurrying green sprites as he walked
towards the pile of bags, which were filled with star sprinkles.
He
grabbed three bags in each hand and got in line with the sprites,
marching back and forth. The sprites, of course, were singing an
old
Sprite Marching Tune, and Heero didn't join in. With the boy's
help, the
bags were moved in almost no time. And when they were moved,
Heero could
see what Patty had done. She had re-colored most of the scorched
grass.
Not only that, it was more alive and vibrant than ever. He was
suprized,
amazed, and astounded.
"How did you.?"
"A few star sprinkles, and a lot of happy workers go a long
way," Patty
replied. "It's really not that hard, although I am pretty
hungry now.
How about we take a lunch break?" she suggested. Heero
nodded. He
hadn't eaten in a long time, he realized. As Patty began to lead
the way
with a happy fast pace to the color castle, she tripped on a rock.
"Are you alright?" Heero asked.
"Yup," Patty nodded. She pulled out another bandaid
and put it on her
other knee. "This just balances it out," she joked.
Heero laughed.
Sort of. "The Color Castle is just over there. Let's
hurry, maybe the
chef has already made us some lunch!"
Indeed, when they had reached the castle, the food was already ready,
and Rainbow Brite, Indigo, Buddy, and Canary were gathered around some
wodden tables, just about to eat. As Heero and Patty approached,
Rainbow
waved cheerfully.
"Hello, Patty, Heero!"
"Hi, Patty," Buddy said. "Hello, Heero."
"There's plenty of room to sit and eat, don't be shy!"
Canary
encouraged.
"Hey, Buddy," Patty smiled. She got her food and sat
between Rainbow
and Buddy. "Where are Lala, Red, and Shy?" she asked.
"Lala and Red had to direct some mining in the color caves, and
Shy is
very into her Gundam project," Buddy answered.
"Oh, maybe you should send IQ up with some of this great food,
Rainbow,"
Patty suggested. "Sometimes Shy Violet gets so into her
project that she
forgets to eat," she explained to Heero.
"Or play, or anything," Canary added. "I don't
know how I'd ever go
without playing for three hours, let alone a day!"
"Hush, Canary," Rainbow smiled. "I know, why
don't we let Indigo tell
us what she's reading?" Indigo's head jerked up from the
book.
"Huh?"
"She asked what you were reading," Heero explained.
"Oh. It's Hamlet. Act II, scene 2." Indigo
stood, book in hand.
"'Doubt that the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt the truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.'"
"Lovely," Rainbow smiled. Heero applauded.
Indigo bowed politely and
took a seat. Heero looked away from the actress for a moment, he
thought
he had heard something. In this moment, Indigo tossed an indigo
star
sprinkle in his hair. Rainbow tried not to giggle. Heero
was three
colors short of fully rainbow-colored hair, and he didn't know.
"I think I heard something from inside the Color Castle," he
said.
"Hm. no one should be in there. Let's have a look!"
Rainbow stood and
went running. Kitty Brite and Puppy Brite ran after her.
Heero jumped
to his feet and ran after her.
As they entered the Color Castle, a strange dark fog surrounded them.
Puppy's tail drooped and Kitty curled up sadly. Rainbow realised
instantly what it was, amnd tried to fend off the gloom cloud with a
little bit of rainbow, but it didn't work. Heero stood there,
wondering
why the odd smelling stuff was effecting everyone in this manner.
Then
he realised that it was coming from the lab where the violet girl was
working on fixing the Wing. He scooped up cat, dog, and girl,
and headed
outside.
"There's some sort of gas in there," he stated.
"Oh, no! It must be Murky's doing!" Patty stated.
"You're not effected by it?" Canary wondered.
Heero shook his head. "I'm going back in," he stated.
"Good luck!" Buddy, Patty, and Canary called as he ran
inside.
